R Training Courses Dublin
R for Data Science – 18/19 September 2023
This course focusses on organising your data, visualisation, and summarising outputs in graphical or report format.
Participants need not have any experience using R for this course but should be familiar working with data. Many organisations and research groups have to deal with large amounts of data from multiple sources. They need tools for database access and for merging different data sources. They have to clean, restructure, summarise and visualise data and they want to report their findings in web-based and printed reports. All this needs to be done using one piece of software to enable efficient and consistent reporting. R is ideal for this purpose.

The course is instructor-led with regular practical exercises where you will work with the data, and seek advice from experienced R practitioners in an online environment. In-person courses will resume in good time.
Please register your interest in this course, or reserve your place, by emailing David at training@insightsc.ie or clicking the button below – we will revert at the earliest opportunity. Class size is small with two highly qualified and experienced instructors – see below for further information.

Prof. Antony Unwin – Antony is a Director of Insight Statistical Consulting and former professor of computer-oriented statistics and data analysis at the University of Augsburg (formerly of Trinity College Dublin). He is a fellow of the American Statistical Society, co-author of the book “Graphics of Large Datasets”, and co-editor of the “Handbook of Data Visualisation”. His research focuses on data visualisation, especially in interactive graphics. Antony is author of the book “Graphical Data Analysis with R” published in 2015 by CRC Press and has written two R packages himself. See his blog on comparing outlier detection methods with the OutliersO3 package on Revolutions here.
Prof. Louis Aslett delivers R training courses throughout the year for Insight. He completed his PhD in Mathematical Statistics from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Durham University. Before that he spent 4 years in a pure research role in Chris Holmes’ group at the University of Oxford and as Junior Research Fellow at Corpus Christi College. He is author of several R packages and is also the maintainer of freely available RStudio server AMIs for easy and rapid deployment of R into the Amazon cloud service.
